Controllable synthesis and enhanced electrochemical properties of multifunctional [Au.sub.core][Co.sub.3][O.sub.4shell] nanocubes
Article Abstract:
Multifunctional [Au.sub.core][Co.sub.3][O.sub.4shell] nanocubes were successfully synthesized by using a combined solvothermal and hydrothermal method in the introduction of HAu[Cl.sub.4]. The results indicated that the electrochemical performance of the [Au.sub.core][Co.sub.3][O.sub.4shell] electrode was due to the trace Au intercalation, greatly enhanced as compared with that of the pure [Co.sub.3][O.sub.4] electrode.

Synthesis of single-crystal gold nanosheets of large size in ionic liquids
Article Abstract:
Large-size single-crystal gold nanosheets are successfully prepared by microwave heating of HAuCL4 in ionic liquid, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, without any additional template agent. A demonstration that the ionic liquid could act as template agent for the formation of gold nanosheets is presented.

Synthesis and optical characterization of Au/Ag core/shell nanorods
Article Abstract:
Au/Ag core/shell nanorods with different shell thickness were synthesized in aqueous solution by chemically depositing silver and gold nanorods surface. A model for evaluating the plasmon damping in inhomogeneous metallic systems with interfaces is presented.
